News & Announcements:

** The library will be closed Monday, September 4 in observance of Labor Day. **

Librarian in Lockup! Miss Jess will be going behind bars on September 20th to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Help us raise her “bail money” by donating online at http://www2.mda.org/goto/jessicaarnold.

Kids and adults in our community are living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases that take away everyday freedoms like walking, talking, hugging and even breathing.

By donating to her “bail,” you can help Miss Jess raise money to bring strength and hope to the individuals and families in our community living with these life-threatening diseases.

 What’s Coming Up:

Saturday Events:

Gibsonville Rocks | Saturday, September 16, 9:00-11:30 AM — We will be painting rocks to “hide” around Gibsonville and brighten everyone’s day.  We will provide paint and rocks, but encourage everyone to bring their own rocks from  home, too!  The more bright spots of color and kindness we can create the better.  Learn more about the painted “kindness rocks” project at http://thekindnessrocksproject.com/

Garden Railroad Story Time | Saturday, September 2, 10:00-11:00 AM — Join Miss Ashley at the Gibsonville Garden Railroad for a special train-themed story time.  We will get to see the trains run this morning on 1,500 feet of track, bridges, and tunnels with 10 different layouts.

School-Age Events:

After-School Activities | Thursdays, 4:00 – 4:30 PM (Starts Sept. 14) — Join us for some after-school STEAM fun! September’s theme is “Back to School”, and we will be creating personalized book tote bags, attempting some fun back to school challenges, and using school supplies as building materials. See you then!  Intended for elementary/middle school students.

Homeschool Activities | Third Friday each month, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM — Homeschool families are invited to join us every third Friday at 10:00 AM for STEAM activities and the chance to meet other area homeschoolers.

Story Times:

Toddler Story time | Wednesdays at 10:00 AM – Kids 3 and under and their caregivers are invited to come enjoy stories, fingerplays, and songs.

Pre-K Story time | Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 11:00 AM – These story times, geared for 4-5 year olds, features stories, crafts and activities.

Staff Spotlight:

Kim

Each month, we are going to shine a spotlight on one of our wonderful staff members to give our library community a chance to get to know a little bit more about them.  In September, we are highlighting Kim!  You can stop by the library any time this month to see Kim’s Staff Picks on display.

Because she reads a wide variety of books from YA to contemporary Christian Fiction, Kim is a great resource for library users looking for book recommendations.  Her most recent find is the wide selection of audiobooks available to stream or download to your device from Hoopla
