On Tuesday, April 30, 2019 the Gibsonville Public Library will join libraries from across the country in celebrating Día. Día is a multicultural celebration of children, families, and reading, and emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Inspired by the Mexican día de los niños celebrations, children’s book author Pat Mora founded El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) in the U.S.A., and has encouraged the celebration of children and books for more than 20 years.
The Gibsonville Public Library’s celebration is 3-7 PM on April 30th, and will include crafts, games traditionally enjoyed during the Mexican celebration of Día de los niños, snacks, and bilingual stories. All families are invited to join us in celebrating our children, cultures, and books!
