Holiday Food Drive | November – December 2019
It’s that time of year. The library is holding our annual holiday food drive during November and December. We accept canned and other nonperishable food items. In past years we have used cans to “pay down” fines, but since we don’t charge late fees anymore (!), our food drive is purely for the benefit of our neighbors who need some extra help.
Thank you for your continued support!

Sock Tree, Wrapping Station, and Secret Santa Books | December 2 – 21
Help decorate our Sock Tree this year! Socks are the most requested item in shelters across the country, and we are looking for newly purchased socks in all sizes to help those in need. Plus, underneath our tree you’ll find a treasure trove of free Secret Santa Books! These donated items are wrapped and ready for gifting – but aside from some hints on the gift tag, you won’t know what your Secret Santa book is until you unwrap and read. Have gifts you need to wrap in secret? Stop by the library after you shop to wrap away from prying eyes. We have free wrapping paper, bows, tags and more on hand all month!

Family-Friendly New Year | Tuesday, Dec 31, 3:00 – 5:00 PM
It’s 12:00 somewhere – and that means the new year has started in some places around the world already! We’re celebrating with themed foods and activities from countries that are ringing in the new year this afternoon. Did you know that at 3:00 PM in Gibsonville it is 12 midnight in Dubai? Help us count down to the new year in Iran, Russia, Greece, and more. Appropriate for all ages, and a fun way for kids to count down to 2020!
