Special Family Storytime with local author Shelley Caryn         Saturday July 8
Join us at 11:00AM on Saturday July 8th to hear local author Shelley Caryn read her book “There’s a Little Boy in My Class But I Don’t Know His Name”.
Shelley Caryn holds the title of Mom, Nurse, Inspirational Speaker, Special Needs Advocate and Author, but out of all the titles that she holds the one she cherishes the most is Mom. She is the mother of two adult-aged children, a son and a daughter. Her son has a rare, terminal medical disease called Hunter’s Syndrome.
Shelley’s latest book, “There’s A Little Boy In My Class but I Don’t Know His Name,” was inspired by her son’s journey with Hunter’s Syndrome and some of his challenges to make friends. The book tells the story of a little boy who goes from being curious about the little boy in his class that seems to be different, to the two becoming friends.

Downtown Scavenger Hunt     June 19 – July 29
Part of our Summer Reading Program includes a scavenger hunt!  There are six letters hidden around downtown Gibsonville. Finding each letter around town will earn you a unique Summer Reading badge. Unscramble the letters to make a word and earn a special EXTRA BADGE  designed by Maghon Taylor of All She Wrote Notes!

Financial Literacy for Young Adults      Thursdays, July 13 and July 20 4:00PM
How you handle your money when you go out on your own can make the difference between it being a good experience or a challenging one. Come learn how to stay on top of your finances instead of being buried by them, and leave feeling more confident about managing your money!  Topics will include how to make (and stick!) to a realistic budget, and what to consider when making financial decisions. This event is intended for older teens and young adults.

Book Club Interest Meeting       Saturday July 29
Join us on Saturday July 29th at 12:30PM to help establish a book club! Let us know what kind of books you want to read, how often you want to meet, and – most importantly – what kind of snacks there should be at YOUR book club.  Come meet new people and talk about books!

Knitting/Crochet Club
Like to knit or crochet? Want to learn? Come join the Knitting/Crochet club to get advice and share ideas with others who love knitting/crochet as much as you do. Open to all ages and skill levels. Supplies are available for anyone who doesn’t have their own.  The Knitting Club will meet this month on Saturday, July 8 at 1pm and Saturday, July 22 at 10am.

Book Bike
The book bike is out and about again! We would love to involve volunteers who are looking for an active, outdoor way to add a little community service to their life. If you are interested in helping out with Book Bike events (ages 18 & over, for now), if you would like the Book Bike to stop in your neighborhood, or to see already scheduled stops visit giblib.org/bike.

Puzzle Pandemonium            Saturday July 15
Join us on Saturday July 15th at 1:00 PM to test your puzzle skills, and maybe win a prize!  Families or small groups will work together to see who can assemble the same 200 piece jigsaw puzzle the fastest.
